Rapper Kurupt, a member of the group Tha Dogg Pound, and producer Dr. Zodiak had launched in Los Angeles cannabis buds coated first in hash oil and then in kief, which they named “Moonrocks” because of their resemblance to moon rocks.

With the rise of legal hemp in Europe, CBD producers have adopted this process, replacing hash oil with CBD concentrates. Some have gone a step further by also replacing the pollen with isolate crystals, to achieve a CBD content of nearly 90%.
